I will be setting up at 4pm at the Ball on saturday, so if you guys want to learn a bit of stage combat cutllass it would have to be before that time or on Sunday before I leave for San Diego. I will bring some wood practice swords with me.
Well, Im definitely down for some good sparring/fighting! :D I've been teaching swordplay for a number of years now and I have a group of about a half dozen that have been itching to get back into it on a regular basis. I have a well-established and proven cirriculum developed that will teach brand-newbies how to fight with a sword (using shinais to start out with). I can teach single weapon styles (cutlass, rapier, etc), sword and shield styles, two weapon styles (rapier and main guache, case of rapiers, etc), and even some bojutsu and staffwork. Myself and the rest of my guys are available pretty much most evenings except Wednesdays and Saturdays. ...but the weekend is usually fair game for us. Most often we'll fight down at Encanto Park, but we're kindred spirits and like to fight at Rose Mofford (25th Ave and Dunlap) or at any other park we can get to. ;)
Well, I've talked with the guys I usually fight with and made some rough arrangements. There'll be about a half dozen or so of us at Encanto Park on Friday Evenings starting at about 630 or 7ish. I have some extra shinais. Some of the people coming are fairly experienced, and some of the people are pretty new.
I can teach newbies so if you want to fight, but you dont know anything about it come anyway and I'll teach ya what ye need to know. I can teach Staff, Katana, Longsword/Shortsword, Sword and Shield, Two weapon style, and more.
Weather you guys come or not, we'll be there. We're not going to start up until Friday the 14th. Let me know if you have any questions. Feel free to email me, or call me directly (623) 202.1616
Cpt. Max, I can prolly get some of my crew to get with some of your crew on a day that works for you if you're interested...
Oh, yeah! I luvz it ! I will bring Schlager, Cutlass, Buckler, and Shinai dai-sho..... I and some pals created a "duel" form some years ago with rapier as main and shinai as off-hand, with their respective +'s and -'s balanced ! I can teach fencing: Olympic, and "in the round", w/foil,epee,sabre,cutlass and Bushi.
