So where was everybody last night?

Well, I was there with you and Shannon and my friends Mike and Spartan. ;)

Umm. when where. and required gear? I have some I am borrowing (mask gloves and blade) while I put some together. and of course I have the absolute needed piece of armor.

Honestly, the way I train beginners you wont need anything except a shinai. A mask a gloves might come in handy when you get into sparring exercises, but that wont come until later. We'll start meeting at Encanto Park between 6 and 630pm Friday nights. There were about a half-dozen or so of us down there on Friday and security even drove up and asked us what we were doing and then told us to have fun! :D They never have given us any grief.

Okay. well shinai gear I have. as well as a bit of training. as Captain Porthos can attest. More interested in the rapier/saber practice however. also do people car pool down to it. because I work until 6 starting in january and live up in northern phoenix (101 and I-17)

Well, it's like I was explaining to Tabbicatt on Friday, what I can teach you with Shinai can be easily transfered to any bladed weapon from a Katana to a Claymore, with some slight variations and modifications. So you can essentially learn the Raiper and Sabre techniques on a shinai at the park and then practice the katas and forms on the live steel stuff at a later time. I think, honestly, that is a large part of the reason why the park authorities always leave us alone.

I was wondering who the scurvy dogs on the other side of the field were...

I also attend fighter practice on Wednesday nights at Encanto, but I'm over on the other side of the Heavies practicing for war. There's a few of our crew on the field there and it's always fun to have more. So those interested in practicing for the Estrella War scenarios on the Rapier field, come on down. Ask for Sean Porter or Captain Cervantes, we'll both be there. SCA Heavy Rapier armor requirments, there's a bit of loaner gear.

Another opportunity for those who are on the East side is at Gene Autrey Park on Thursday nights (McKellips and Val Vista in Mesa) where the Barony of Twin Moons has their fighter practice. I just so happens that the Rapier Defender for the Barony is a Buccaneer so come on over.

I don't know who it was you saw. We were there on Friday not Wednesday.
