Good Day Corsairs and Fellow Pirates,
The Buccaneer's Ball is now behind us and seemed to be a rollicking good time for all that attended. It was wonderful to finally meet many of you for the first time in person. I saw that several Pirates had their images put to paper by Tiger Lee in all their finery. The raffle and auction sent many pirates home with new treasure and booty to drool over.Tom Tuerff and Gary Siler entertained us with their music throughout the evening and had quite a few pirates dancing. Now it's time for you to give us your opinion of how things went and how we can make it better next year. First of all was the Ball too long? Seemed to me me many left long before Ball was scheduled to be over. Is 6:00 PM to 1:00 AM too much time to spend with other? Should we make it shorter next year? How about the food ? Was it satisfying and filling ? Was the entertainment up to your expectations? Any suggestions to make that better for your pleasure? Please make any suggestions and feedback you make realistic and reasonable, we seriously want to make it a better more pleasurable experience for you. No we can't run a brothel or provide all the alcohol you need free for such a measly amount, but any thing we can add or do without to improve will be considered. Remember this is your Ball to enjoy and we want to make it the best memories we can for you. For those of you who wish to become actual members of the Corsairs or form your own ship and be recognized as a official Corsair Ship please read the Arizona Corsairs Code and Articles section of our website and contact us. THANK YOU ALL for attending and hopefully we enticed you enough to want to do it again next year. Keep coming to the website to see what event we plan for our Pirate community next and be prepared to have more fun than one should be allowed to have in one lifetime. Argggh memories be the best treasures that one can gather in life.

I think the ball was an hour too short. But that's just me, at cons I'm still active at four in the mornin.
The first minstrel didn't go over to well, I noticed, they only seemed to like three or four of his songs.. But Gary was much enjoyed, and I would like to see the singing sailor join us again. The food was wonderful, heard many a compliment on the bread bowl idea, the snackies were a good idea too. Heard no complaints about havin the merchants there. Captain Hawk certainly liked them. Heard no complaints about the bar, the only related thing was about not takin alcohol outside, and thats just something they will have to live with. The dance area could have had a bit more distance between the tables and the minstrel, but it is not a large consern. The auction and raffle were well liked and should be done next year I think. And that seems to be the end of my report/comment. Can't wait to do it again next year.
i agree with everything tabbicatt said. i did think that first musician was kinda lame but gary was good.maybe get a full band together next year? but i had a great time and was glad to meet so many cool people.i wouldve liked to meet everyone there, but oh well.the food was good, and free punch is my favorite kind.
I think Lady Tabbicatt summed it up pretty well. I think the duration of the social event was an acceptable and permittable timeframe. I was disappointed that the facility management would not permit us to acquire, transport and consume our own distilled beverages, but I suppose even they like thier dubloons, eh? ;) The consumables which they served us passed acceptably for food and did not disagree with my palette, so that's always a plus. The only item that strikes me as odd is that for a "Ball" there sure wasnt really a lot of dancing going on....not that I can dance all that well mind you, Im just saying. The music selection, while entertaining, was not really very ....danceable (thats a word now). If you'd like I would gladly volunteer my services to come up with a musical selection of piratey/scoundrely music that would be more agreeable for persons to move thier feet in time with the music. ...who knows you might even be able to sell CDs to make some extra coin? The only other comment I had was that we should do this more than once a year...maybe twice? Have the Buccanneers Ball in the winter and ....Freebooter's Ball in the Spring (or some other equally less-than-imaginitive name). ...but thats just my two pence and nobody listens to that anyway so....
Very well John get together a selection of music and get it to me to hear . We are up to any help and will try to get more danceable music for next year.
Actually, me an gato were thinkin o' a spring thing, say middle ta late April, 'cause it don't interfere wid any OTHER events, an Max has been wantin sompin at the Encanto clubhouse...So, thats a very possibe reality!
Yeah, but if it's like the last one, it's a dry site, no campin, no "real" party, just a bunch o' SCA'ers dancin around in pirate drag- more like one of their 'Regency balls" than a pirate party
I believes intership competition be needed. Challenges be to knot tyin', dancin' , singin' ,arm wrasslin', bardic performances and an arts competition. If the venue permits it, boffer fencin' or ? Perhaps an exchange 'o the worst 'o pirate movies between crewes. Leave no room fer a soul ta be left unmollested. I can't be sayin' weather twas too long or short, had ta leave early as me job requires a few hours sleep before fightin' with sharp blades an bits ;)
