Weather he shows up or not, it's still a party, erego it's still a valid reason to consume copious amounts of alcohol...not that you really need a reason mind you... ;)
Although I'm comfortable with my Christian upbringing (although very casual; not real big on the church-going thing), Xmas has always been more of a secular celebration for me.
Holidays in general are a big thing with me. I like being with the people I care about, and showing them how much I care for them.
This particular holiday season is great IMHO ... it's fairly extended, there's something for everyone, I get to decorate, dress up, shop, AND cook!
This year I can't afford to buy much, so I've tried to express as much love as possible. It's only been a select few so far, as I been a busy-ass working chick for the first holiday since I became chronically ill, but I'm in good spirits, and I'll have the hang of it by next year!
So ... to all my pirate brethren:
Have a satisfactory non-denominational capitalist wintertime gift-giving season!!!
If it wasn't for a calendar I would miss it.
Its just a reason for me to make time for friends and family,
and to give them the gifts I've been saving through the year.
