I know that most everyone lives in Phoenix, or at least they seem to... But I thought that maybe we could orchestrate an event in Tucson sometime? My fiance and I both love going to events but due to them always being a 2 hour drive away we rarely ever get to go. Anyways, it's just an idea. Anybody who thinks it could be done let me know and we can try to discuss planning and stuff.

What would you like to do as a event? Where in Tucson could we hold an event? How many pirates do are there in the Tucson area that would help you put together an event? It would have to be on a week-end so more pirates from out of town could make it. Maybe some kind of promotional thing, also we are now tied in with St, Jude's Children Hospital as the charity that we are trying to raise money for so maybe something the public could attend that we could raise some money for them and the club. Something where we could do sword demos, belly dancing and drumming, if allowed flintlock demos (powder only), etc. Also it would help if you could list some inexpensive hotels where those from out of town could stay if they so desired. Most people would probably just drive since it's only 2 hours but some might like making a week-end getaway of it. If you wish to be the driving force behind putting such an event together we will do what we can to support you and as many of us that can make will. Volunteer?

Yes it would be a fantastic idea... or at least make one event half way for those of us down in Tucson.... then everyone drives the same amount of time roughly. I too live in Tucson and having only the motorcycle, it takes me a lot longer to go that far.

We have Reid Park; along with several other parks as well... plenty of space. Why not have a bbq/ games and maybe some fighting. There are only a small amount of pirates here in Tucson, but I know of 2 that are SCA Pirates that would love to meet the group if we had something down here or closer.

Yes a event in Tucson would be nice but who in Tucson would be willing to plan and put it together. We need a place and to hold an event in a park you need city's permission. Also someone to host and run event. This takes time and planning. Some of us in Phoenix area would be willing to attend a event in Tucson but it needs to be someone from there to put it together. Again I ask, any volunteers?

Well.... I suppose that could be me unless someone else really wants to.... I'd also love some feedback from folks as far as any ideas they may have for activities. Would anyone have objections to inviting any pirates from the SCA?

First pick a date for this event and then a location, be sure to get official permission from city if you choose a park. Then make a list of events like fencing demo or competition (or both), belly dancing, maybe a art competition, etc. Schedule a lunch break, cooking or potluck or just bring your own. Pirates from SCA welcomed we need to lure them into a real pirate organization so they can be more at home, SCA upper crust look down on pirates, it's where the Corsairs started way back when. It's a lot more work then people realize to plan an event, Captains actually do a lot of work and not just look good in keeping activities going to hold the crews interest in the club.

i know that Reid Park is where all of the SCA people practice and i think that that would be a good location... im not sure how much i can do with the planning because im also planning my wedding (hence the reason i havent been able to check on this in a while... sorry) but i was thinking that maybe we could do a festival type thing, i think that reid park may allow certain forms of entertainment(maybe sword fighting but im not sure about the flintlocks) is there anybody else in tucson that could maybe help with the planning? i can try my hardest to do what i can but i dont think i could do it all on my own... and maybe mid november would be a good time... the weather is usually really nice around then...

I figured I was doing the planning since no one else stepped up. I've picked the date of June 6th probably from 10a until around 6 ish. I was going to look into parks this next week and see what was available. As soon as I have a place, I will post more information. I've come up with a few activities and will post them when I have the place. Figured pot luck / bbq with people contributing would be the easiest / cheapest for most folks.
