Non pirate pics

Its probably just me, but, i would love to see the pics being uploaded to the site keep to the pirate theme. After all this is a pirate themed site.
Yes i want to see pics of your newborn, big life change stuff, i'm not heartless.
BUT...A close up shot of your bed head, cam whore myspace shots, yes thats a pretty fairy, yay you put a red band on your face, yay you can use photo shop to mirror image yourself or any other trick, you are not sephiroth, yes cats are cute only with an eye patch, ghost rider's bike is cool..in the movie, my thats alot of motorcycle pics, i hope pirates didn't play trombones, etc...i know i missed some... is not needed.
There are over 5200 pics uploaded to the site and i know space costs money.
If we could police ourselves, look through our pictures and get rid of the non pirate themed ones, make room for the pirate themed ones.
And since that pic viewer is right up front showcasing us, maybe we should put our best peg leg forward and show the newcomers to the site what they are in for.

We have asked that only pirate related pictures be posted but you can see the result of that request. There's no way to not let them post non-pirate pictures other than self restraint. I agree with Mad Blaze that even the "cool" non-pirate pictures don't belong here ; put them on your other sites please. This is a Pirate themed site and as such only pirate related posts should be made. As stated space cost money and there be way too many non-pirate themed photos on our site. Please in the future restraint yourself to posting only pirate related pictures. Thank you.

I have a solution to this issue. If somone really needs to have their non-pirate pics shown. Then please place them in a photobucket album and link them to a blog post or something. This is useful in having you pics displayed where people can see them and clears up the server space for this site.

Our non-pirate life is a part of who we are, and I really don't see why anyone is making a big deal out of this. I'll abide with whatever the Council decides, but while I don't care about other people "cam whore myspace shots" either, I also have never had a problem with people posting them. Do we really want to be the "you can't do that here" group?

And is Ning really charging us for space? If they are, there are other CMS sites that won't.

they haven't charged yet, ning is awesome! no other site can give us our own site (not just a page, like myspace) with this level of interaction. and yes they charge if you have a lot of stuff (A LOT). there are other alternative but keep it in mind that most ISP charge for space. The ones that don't are unusually unreliable and slow. I would rather pay if we do get even bigger. For the reliability and vast amount of space we get, they also continually update the ning community, it always get better. If I put this site on my own server, I would have to pay $30 a month for a huge server and it would be painfully slow. but, so far, it has been free. When they ask me for money we will have a meeting and decide what we want to do.

we can still do that. I was just letting you guys know why I believe ning is a good thing, I have tried a lot of CMS systems I like ning a lot. it works well for the Corsairs

I dont think its about cost or space or speed, this is about Pirates, The Arizona Corsairs is about Piracy, not mundane events, Im still on the fence about my Renn faire pics but I don't feel that any pics that are non piratical in nature have a place here. Thats what Myspace and Facebook are for. Want to show those off, Put a link up.

I was just thiking the same thing last night as I perused the photos. I mean really... do we need to upload our family vacation photos or other non-pirate events. 1 or 2 is okay, but... come on.. Also, there are a few duplicate photos that could be removed as well. Keep it pirate themed mateys.
