The Arizona Corsair Network

I am avoiding working the weekend… For those non-SCA friends - its OK to not have any idea what we're talking about
1. Mundane name:
J. Sutherland

2. Mundane Job:
ARRRGGGG-itect

3. Persona name:
Johnny Rooke

4. How did you come up with your name?

The name Johnny was common in most sea shanties of the 18th century, referring to any young sailing lad. The Johnny Rook is a better known as the Striated Caracara, and has been recognized as a very unusual bird of prey in the Falklands. 17th century mariners called it the Pirate Bird or FLYING DEVIL. They have been known to take sheep and legend says a few small children! Charles Darwin said the Johnny Rook is 'very mischievous and inquisitive, quarrelsome and passionate'. What better name to share with such a crazy sea animal. Add an “E” on the end for the old English misspelling and the name becomes period! http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/04/0414_060414_devils_video.html
5. Where and when did your personal live?
17th Century Scottish / Caribbean buccaneer... and other stuff, the benefits of being a seafarer. Roughly, in 1650’s Cromwell shipped a bunch of Irish and Scots to Barbados to work as slaves in the Tobacco fields. A few years afterwards most became freemen (ran away mostly) because the government went to war and they needed sailors/solders. Base a lot of my research on the explorer/ sailor / naturalist /
pirate Dampier. If you have no idea who or what I am talking about, learn more history! Blame it on the Flogging Molly’s also…

6. What is your Known World Location?
Atenvelt

7. What kingdom do you consider to be your home?
Atenvelt

8. How long have you played?
Started? In the dark ages of 1989, long gap when I was at U of A and back again in 2002. Only missed one Estrella War in the entire time.

Good enough intro for those who wanted to know more of the Rooke
